Bereavement - Volunteers

Without our
volunteers. Hospice of North Central Oklahoma could not function. They are the heart
and soul of our organization and remind us daily of our mission to be
present for our families, not as an obligation, but as a privilege.
You are probably well aware of how volunteers
assist during the time of a patient's illness. They are also actively
involved with families after the death of a loved one. As you receive
your Special Care Series booklets, cards, and even newsletters, you can
know that a caring individual gave freely of their time and talents to
reach out to you. Volunteers write cards, fold and staple newsletters,
and even make phone calls to the bereaved. Each month you may receive a call
from one of our volunteers, just to see how things are going and remind you
of upcoming support group meetings and other Hospice of North Central Oklahoma events.
(If at any time you wish not to receive calls, all you need to do is let us
know and we will respect this.)
A volunteer is available to you as a supportive
friend, to keep in touch and listen as you share your journey. They can also
assist with transportation to support group meetings if you are unable to
drive. If you are interested in meeting a volunteer let us know!
