The Hospice of North Central Oklahoma Logo

How many of you know the origins of the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma logo? When designing it in 1982, the logo committee wanted the logo to represent what Hospice could mean to the community.

Since most of the care of the patient and family would take place in the home, a house was part of the original plan. The butterfly, representing the non-dying spirit, and hands for the loving care given by hospice staff and volunteers were designed. Lea Dent arranged the symbols in a variety of ways, but finally chosen were the open hands representing "letting go " of the flying butterfly within the house. This is the representation of what the early Hospice wanted to give to the community, and it's still our goal today.
