Our Services & Caregivers

Who May Receive Hospice Care?

  • Any person who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, and has been given a prognosis of six months or less by a physician.

  • Individuals who are choosing comfort care/symptom control and are no longer seeking aggressive/curative treatment.

  • Patients whose primary care physician agrees that hospice care is appropriate and that he/she will continue to direct the care of the patient.

  • Patients who reside in the service area of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and desire the services of hospice.

What Does the Service Include?

Hospice of North Central Oklahoma offers medical and emotional support to the terminally ill patient, and his/her family. Our services are individualized to meet particular needs of each patient and family and include the following:

  • Skilled nursing with on-call emergency care available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

  • pain and symptom management

  • social services and emotional support

  • non-denominational spiritual care

  • volunteer support

  • health aide/homemaker services

  • bereavement services

The bereavement team will assist family members for 15 months  following the death of a loved one.

Support groups are held monthly, newsletters are mailed to families, and workshops dealing with special topics are offered at various times during the year.

The Role of the Family & Caregivers

In most cases the family provides the primary care for the patient although Hospice of North Central Oklahoma will also help people with special circumstances.

In partnership with our team of professionals, in tandem with their own doctor, the family provides a peaceful environment giving the patient a more relaxed setting which allows him/her to accept death as a natural process, free from pain and suffering.

Hospice care can also be provided in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Hospice of North Central Oklahoma does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, handicap, age or ability to pay in admission or access to its programs or activities.
