Melanie
was born in Fredonia, Kansas. She attended several schools in Kansas and
graduated from Altoona-Midway, Kansas. She then lived in Burden, Kansas for many
years where she raised her three sons, Curtis, Craig and Clint Stewart, while
working for Rubbermaid, Inc. in Winfield, Kansas. In 1995 she married John
Wright and they moved to Oklahoma.
They have three grandchildren Devin, Trent and Kenzie.
They moved several times in Oklahoma and Tennessee as John progressed in the
Albertson’s Food & Drug Company. In late 2006 John accepted a position with
Dillon’s, Inc. He is currently in Wellington, Kansas at the Dillon’s store
there.
In 2000, Melanie and John moved back to Ponca City, OK. Melanie served as the
Office Manager/Marketing Representative for TPI Staffing for five years and in
January 2005; Melanie accepted the position as Director of Volunteers &
Community Outreach. Recently, she was named Director of Volunteers and
Operations with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.
She is currently serving on the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce Board of
Directors, past board member of Ponca City Rotary Club and Ponca City Citizens
Police Academy. Member of Professionals Today organization, she is the chair for
the 2007 Cherokee Strip Bar-B-Q and Chili Cook-off held in September. She is
active in the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors council and a graduate
of Ponca City Leadership Class of 2004.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends. She likes to be active in
making a positive difference.
