Volunteers

Loving Hands, Caring Hearts

Patient Care
Some volunteers prefer working one on one with our patients and families. Patient volunteers can offer help with:
  • patient companionship, which provides a source of relief to the main caregiver
  • light housekeeping
  • meal preparation/feeding
  • yard work
  • hobbies
  • transportation
  • child care
  • errands/shopping
  • phone calls
  • pet therapy

Requirements: Training consists of 21 hours over a period of 7 weeks, meeting one night a week. Hospice of North Central Oklahoma offers patient & family volunteer training each spring and fall. Office and fundraising volunteers can be trained individually."

Fundraising
Hospice of North Central Oklahoma has six fundraisers: the Annual Appeal, Golf Tournament, Chili Cook-Off, Annual Memorial Bowling Tournament, Annual Memorial Poker Run, and the Tree of Life.

We need volunteers to:

  • help with the planning, organization and scheduling of events
  • make phone calls
  • transport, set up and take down equipment/material
  • clean up the area
  • run miscellaneous errands

Bereavement
Our Bereavement staff follows the family for 15 months after the death of a loved one.

Volunteers are needed:

  • to call family members once a month for support and to remind them of the monthly support groups and other special events.
  • to mail bereavement booklets
  • to visit family members

Equipment
We need strong, capable people with a flexible schedule to help transport, repair, and set up medical equipment in our patients' homes.

Requirements: Orientation approximately 1 hour

People are needed to help deliver flowers to our patients, run errands, assist with special events, and other special needs.

Office
Hospice needs individuals to help with: mailing newsletters, sending out bereavement booklets and cards, computer work, office work, and making acknowledgments for donations.
